He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Shirley Feinberg; his children, Eileen Melnick (Stuart McCarthy), Mitchell Melnick (Carolyn Greene) and Joy Melnick (Sanford Smith); his brother Morris Melnick; his siblings-in-law, Ida Melnick, Judy and Kenny Helfield; his parents, Sam Melnick and Anna Melnick; and his mother-in-law Rose Berman. He was also cherished by his nieces and nephews and many close friends.
