She was loved and cherished by many people including: her spouse John N. Economides C.; her children, Nicholas and Peter (Dina); her grandchildren, Sophie and Denise; and her sibling-in-law George Economides (Helen).
In 1993, Sophia was the recipient of Montreal Council's prestigious award ''Woman of the Year" honouring exemplary women in Montreal. She was a role model and mentor for those who had the privilege of working with her, being an acquaintance and a dear friend. Sophia and her husband John, contributed immensely to the success of the Kidney Foundation of Canada. They both received the Kidney Foundation Founders award in recognition of their distinguished leadership and dedication to the cause. She was a recipient of the Queen's Jubilee Medal. Sophia volunteered and was a member of the Antiquarian and Numismatic Society of Chateau Ramezay which she joined in 1969 and held many executive positions. She worked assiduously for the benefit of the Montreal Children's Library helping to establish libraries for children. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 from 3pm to 5pm & 6pm to 9pm at the Mount Royal funeral complex 1297 chemin de la Forêt, Outremont QC H2V 2P9 (514) 279-6540 http://www.mountroyalcem.com Funeral service will be at the Mount Royal funeral complex on Thursday, May 24, 2018 at 1PM followed by a reception.
