Avis de décès de Agnes Vickers
VICKERS, Agnes. April 20, 1922 – May 19, 2018. Agnes passed away peacefully, with many of her children and grandchildren by her side, in Montreal, at the age of ninety-six. The third of seven children, she was born and raised in Montreal, though she would live all over Canada. Agnes had thirteen children and countless grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Predeceased by Vivian, Beverley, George, Alison and Philip, she leaves to mourn Edward, Robert, Donald, Barry, John, Agnes, Richard and Stephen. Beloved and devoted grandmother to her many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Agnes was a pillar of strength, truly the matriarch of her family. She dedicated her entire life to caring for and loving her children and grandchildren.
She devoted her life to caring for others; in her younger years she spent time working with the elderly in nursing homes, taught Sunday school and would often take in and feed animals that needed care. Agnes will be remembered by her family for her love of painting and gardening, the time she spent knitting blankets for her grandchildren, and the countless hours spent playing cards and doling out motherly advice to loved ones.
Agnes was the one to confide in about life's challenges; she was always thoughtful and honest with her support. Agnes was as tough as they come; she overcame many trials and tribulations, and was always happy to remind you that life was what you made of it. She was the epitome of "survival of the fittest." She will be greatly missed, but her legacy and strength will live on through all those whose lives she impacted.
The family would like to thank Dr. David Shannon and the CHSLD Vigi Reine-Élizabeth for providing excellent and compassionate care for Agnes towards the end of her life. Service to take place at the Mount Royal Funeral Complex. Condolences will be held on June 2, 2018 at 9 am. Funeral service to take place at 10:00am, followed by the burial.
A reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations made in Agnes' memory to Les Amis de la Montagne (http://www.lemontroyal.qc.ca) would be appreciated.
