She was predeceased by: her parents, Ivy Elizabeth Chase and Callen Hardesty McKay; her spouse George Gates; and her siblings, Walter, Mervyn, John (Jack), Garnet, Dennis, Ivy Calleen Beaudry, Garnetta MacLennan and Leona Mymryk.
She is survived by: her children, Karen Moses (Rae), Gary Gates (Carole), Kevan Gates (Patricia), Sharon Gates, Susan Sami (Mounir), Graham Gates (Ann) and Craig Gates (Leah); and her grandchildren, Keith, Shannon, Yasmeen, Mark, Frederick, Shahir, Christina, Breanne, Melissa, Andrew, Kealty, Keegan, Ashleigh and Kobey.
