He was predeceased by: his parents, Col. James K. Gibson Sr. and Merne Joan Gibson; and his sister Tarrie Goddard. He is survived by: his wife Debbie Gibson; his siblings, Jim Gibson Jr., Tracie Patrick (Doug) and Jerry Gibson (Beth); and his children, Olivia Gallegos (Mike) and Mark Harris. He is also survived by three grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Lingle Fire and Rescue Units.
