He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Ken Mathis and Faye Mathis; his wife Betty Jo; his brother Ken Mathis (Carole); and his children, Bill Mathis, Linda Ronk (Mike), Loretta Roberts (Rick), Gayle Johnson (David), Jim Mathis (Mary), Tedd Mathis (Dawn) and Scott Mathis (Diane). He was also cherished by twenty-two grandchildren; and a plethora of great and great-great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be given to Eastgate Baptist Church or Goshen Healthcare Community Activities Department both in Torrington.
