He was predeceased by: his father Wilbert Herdt; and his son Alex Herdt. He is survived by: his mother Shirley McCandlish of Torrington, Wyoming.; his wife Penny Herdt; his children, Andy Shull (Barb) and Jessica Benefiel (Gary); his granddaughters, Ella, Atley and Laina Benefiel; and his siblings, Jeff Herdt (Linda), Tom Herdt (Mary Jane) and Jody Shields (Rick).
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hospital Foundation, the HSC Education Endowment Foundation, or the charity of the donor's choice.
