He is survived by: his girlfriend Wendy Dean; his stepchildren, Steven, Chris and Jason Thornton; his brother Ernest (Merlyn); and his nieces and nephews, Michael (Kaye), Ernest Jr. (Minda), Diana Phillips (Bryan), Elisa Goforth (Kelly), Sissy and Vanessa Welsh. He is also survived by father, and grandfather to her children and grandchildren.
