He was predeceased by: his son Jeff Hardesty; his parents, Ole Hardesty and May Hardesty (Connie); his nephew Danny Murphy; and his brother Truman.

He is survived by: his wife Connie Murphy; his sister Evelyn McIntyre; his daughter-in-law Ellen Hardesty; his grandsons, Dave (Canyon) and Aaron (Robyn); and his great grandchildren, Cayden, Madison, Quinn and Nora.
