He was loved and cherished by many people including: his significant other Marion; his parents, Gershom Jay and Vera Large Barkhurst (Marion); his grandparents, G. H. (Gus) and Elizabeth Green Barkhurst; his children, Shirley Orlene (Jim), Elaine McQuay (Ron), Leslie Barkhurst (Tammy) and Raymond Barkhurst (Kerry); and his grandchildren, Lael Miller Knotwell (Guy), Cody Miller (Georgia), Chloe Miller Gilbert (Duane), Colton Miller (Robyn), Keysa McQuay Gotschall, Pine McQuay (Samantha), Byron Barkhurst (Wendy), Jenna Barkhurst Sidwell (Taylor), Danial Barkhurst (Rachelle) and Kristina Dawn Barkhurst. He was also cherished by seventeen great grandchildren, and four great, great grandchildren.
He donated several heifers over the years to 4-H & FFA project members to help start their own herds.
