He was predeceased by: his parents, Frederick Eugene Wendel and Laura Louise Wendel (Weil); his stepmother Mary Norma Wendel; his mother-in-law Leta McDaniel; his siblings-in-law, Beverly Wayne "Sandy" McDaniel, Russell W. Kirbey and Joyce McDaniel Collier; his stepsister Sally Borgora; and his niece Kathleen Collier Melchoir.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Wendel of Lander; his children, Kim Wendel of Lander, Frederick Kirk Wendel (Jackie) of Lander, Brett Wendel of Lompoc, CA and Jud Wendel (TJ) of Portland, OR; his sister Marion Kirbey of San Diego, CA; and his stepsister Betty Warmack of Colfax, CA. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, three nephews and six nieces.
