He was predeceased by: his parents, Jose Valdez and Senaida Lucero; his son James Valdez; his grandson Ricky Valdez; and his siblings, Faustine Valdez, Dora Smathers and Maria Valdez.
He is survived by: his wife Marcella Valdez of Green River, Wyoming; his children, Joe Valdez (Brenda Deain) of Green River, Wyoming, Rick Valdez (Cindy) of Rock Springs, Wyoming and Tina Montoya (Willie) of Green River, Wyoming; his grandchildren, Joella Bunderman (Jason), Janell Valdez (Nate Frolic), Michelle Schaechterle (Dan), Crystal Walker (Jason), Loree Sanchez (Michelle), Willie Montoya Jr. (Sabrina), Levi Montoya (Lacey), Marcus Montoya (Kari) and Lorenzo Montoya; and his close friend DeeAnn Montoya. He is also survived by 24 great-grandchildren, six great-great- grandchildren, and countless aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews.
