He is survived by: his parents, Pedrò Alvarez and Josefinà Trejo Suja of Gilbert, Arizona; his wife Deborah Sue Alvarez of Green River, Wyoming; his parents-in-law, Hugh and Mildred Johnson of Buffalo, Wyoming; his stepdaughters, Sara Linsacum (Travis) of Craig, Colorado and Samantha Wilson (Luke) of Craig, Colorado; his siblings, Pedro Mari Alvarez of Green River, Wyoming, Maria Pilar Tefft of Gilbert, Arizona and Manoli Alvarez of Gilbert, Arizona; and his stepgrandchildren, Jayden Linsacum, Tinsley Linsacum and Briggs Linsacum. He is also survived by several cousins; nieces and nephews.
Josè was a vibrant part of his community, actively participating in organizations such as the Wyoming Elk Foundation; Sweetwater County Search and Rescue FMC Fire Brigade.
