He was predeceased by: his father Russell Phillip Ashley; his parents-in-law, Frank L. and Gloria Reyes; and his siblings, Joseph Ashley and Mary Ashley.

He is survived by: his mother Donna Vannieuwanhouen of Ontonagon, Michigan; his wife Diane Ashley of Green River, Wyoming; his children, Chad Ashley (Stephanie) of Boise, Idaho and Amber Ashley of Green River, Wyoming; his brothers, Allen Ashley (Julie) of Ontonagon, Michigan, David Ashley (Bobbie) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Todd Ashley (Betsy) of Keweenaw County, Michigan and Wayne Ashley (Deborah) of Goose Creek, Indiana; his sister-in-law Fran Gregory (Darren) of Green River, Wyoming; his grandchildren, Jayden Ashley, Oliver Ashley, Lane Mann and RJ Mann; and his uncles, Sylvester Vannieuwanhouen and Neil Vannieuwanhouen. He is also survived by several cousins; nieces and nephews.
