He was predeceased by: his parents, Victor Montoya and Casilda Medina Montoya; his son Cornelio Montoya, Jr.; and his siblings, Tony Medina, Elisabeth Foss, Betty Torres and Juanita Kolarski.

He is survived by: his wife Clara M. Varela Montoya of Fort Bridger, WY; his children, Raymond Montoya and Darlene Dreben (Brian); his grandchildren, Christopher Montoya (Rosa), Michael Montoya (Melissa), Ronnie Montoya (Melissa), Nadine Garcia, Brenton Bundy (Annie), Jenae Bowles (Justin), James Dreben (Jamie) and Ryan Dreben; and his daughter-in-law Lydia Montoya.
