With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Douglas Leonard Schmid (Douglas, Wyoming), born in Redwood Falls, Minnesota, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. He was predeceased by: his parents, Bernard Michel and Dorothy Schmid (Arnett); his granddaughter-in-law Brandi Schmid; his siblings, Thomas (Pat Schmid), John Schmid, Patricia Schultz, Dorothy (Carl Sandberg) and Karen Jensen; his brothers-in-law, Bob Nelsen and Dennis Richter; and his parents-in-law, Betty and Bill Miller.

He is survived by: his wife Vicki Schmid of Douglas; his children, Troy (Teresa) of Platteville and Dana Dugan (Sean) of Douglas; his sisters, Judy Richter of Arizona, Sally Nelson of Washington and Susan Rielander (Daryl) of Wisconsin; his grandchildren, Michael Schmid of Colorado, Sara Zaruba (Shane) of Colorado, Matt Schmid (Allyson) of Colorado, Seth Schmid (Shelbee) of Colorado, Tim Schmid of Colorado, Sam Schmid of California, Tomy Schmid of Douglas, Matt Dugan of North Dakota and Cacie Dugan of Douglas; his great grandchildren, Parker, Hallie and Colt Zaruba; his aunt Marion Olsen of Wisconsin; his siblings-in-law, Les Schultz, Jerry Jensen and Blondie Schmid; and also, Harper Schmid, Selene, Silis, Sonja Schmid, Analise and Abel Dugan. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the choice of the donor would be appreciated by the family.
