He was predeceased by: his parents, Joe Ries and Amelia Ries. He is survived by: his wife Ann Taplin; his son Ryan Ries (Leanne); his grandchildren, Isaac and Emma of Wadena, Minnesota; his son Rod Ries (Mindy); his grandchildren, Kiera and Brinley of Lakewood, Colorado.; and his sister Elizabeth Beaver (Michael) of Charlotte. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
