He was predeceased by: his wife Kay; his son Donald; his grandson Dusty Swander; his sister Melvina Swander; and his parents, Amos Swander and Ida Swander (Peggy).

He is survived by: his children, Sandra Howe (Bryant) of Sandy, Steve Swander (Caryl) of Powell, Roy Swander (Darla) of Greybull and Julie Nelson (David) of Denver, Colorado; his sister Donna Tidemann Stayman (Bud); and his grandchildren, Alicia, Taylor, Megan, Miquelle, Alex, Autumn, Kelsey, Justin, Brandon and Kaylene. He is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren.

Memorial donations may be made out to the Ten Sleep FFA.
