He was predeceased by: his parents, Noble Cates and Celestine Cates; his brother Norbert; and his wife Lydia Ganucheau. He is survived by: his children, Maureen Florita (Dave) of Cheyenne, Jeanne Van Risseghem (Bob) of Cheyenne, Steve Cates of Cheyenne, Kevin Cates (Teryl) of Cheyenne, Michael Cates (Shelly) of Windsor, CO and Dan Cates (Ann) of Eugene, OR. He is also survived by 21 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
