He is survived by: his wife Louise Sands; his son Bob Gaines; his sisters, Sandra Soffa of Buffalo and Debra Scherner of Ravenna, Ohio; and his sisters-in-law, Dorothy Parker and Laura Williams of Iowa. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Jim developed Alzheimer's in 2017.
