He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Vertrees and Ruth Vertrees. He is survived by: his former wife Julianne Peabody; his daughter Lana Bowley (Chuck); his siblings, Roger Vertrees (Trudy) of Texas, Ron Vertrees (Kati) of Illinois and Linda Opperman of Illinois; and his grandchildren, Nicholas of Great Falls and Madison Bowley of Great Falls.

Donations in Rex's memory may be made to the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation in care of the Harness Funeral Home at 351 N. Adams in Buffalo.
