He was predeceased by: his parents, Rupert Forest Shields and Edna Garnett Lowther; his sisters, Carol, Nellie Maxwell (Virgil) and Mary Ellen; his daughter Deborah Shields Monteith; and his granddaughter-in-law Amy Shields.
He is survived by: his children, Todd Shields (Debbie), Michael Shields (Tracy) and Lori Brown (Jerry); the mother of his children Barbara Shields Cavinee; his sister Wilma Clough (Ray); his grandchildren, Valerie Sweet (Jason), Jeremy Wharton (Leah), Wendy Wharton, Eric Shields, Jennifer Shields and Emily Brown; his great grandchildren, Jessica Mehaffey, Kyle Cincinat, Nathan Cincinat, Madison Shaw, Conner and Christopher Shields; and his great great grandchildren, Bryer Barr and Aubree Wade. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
