He was predeceased by: his siblings, Judith Reitze, Rose Marie Covey, Edward Merrill, Jr. and Dannie Ray Merrill; and his nephews, Edward Ray Merrill and John David Gallagher.
He is survived by: his son David Allen Merrill (Chandra) of Winifrede, WV; and his sisters, Barbara Gallagher, Alline Cheatham, Donna Gould, Christina Yates and Lisa Merrill. He is also survived by three grandsons and two granddaughters.
