He was predeceased by: his parents, Lewis Smith and Nora Smith; and his brother Jesse Smith. He is survived by: his wife Billie; his children, Carrie and Charles; and his sister Mary Stewart.

Bill was a multi-gallon blood donor so in lieu of flowers the family has requested honoring Bill with a blood (or monetary) donation to the American Red Cross.
