George Mathis Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of George Mathis of Whitman, West Virginia, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on January 31, 2025 at the age of 79. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his former wife Susanna Walk Mathis; his parents, Cornie Mathis and Myrtle Epperly Mathis Roberts; his grandparents, Chester and Carrie Epperly; his siblings, Chester Mathis and Katherine Mathis Farmer; and also Debbie Porter.
He is survived by: his wife Tammie Mathis of Whitman; his children, April Mathis Thomas of Logan, WV and Corey Mathis (Kayla) of Whitman; his grandson Roman Mathis of Rossmore, WV.; his stepgrandchildren, Nataleigh and Kayanna Mitchell; and his pet Lucy.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 2nd 2025 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Whitman Community Church (3309 Whitman Creek Rd, Whitman, WV 25652). A funeral service will be held on Sunday, February 2nd 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
