It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Louis Comer (Wheeling, West Virginia), who passed away on January 8, 2025, at the age of 99, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Peter J. Comer and Martha R. Comer (Auber); his wife Mary F. Witkowski Swanson Comer; his daughters, Cheryl L. Swanson Long, Cindy Swanson Goddard, Patricia Comer Wilson and Nancy Comer Taylor; his siblings, Margaret A. Comer Walton, John J. and James A. Comer; his former wife Mary A. Barnett Comer Tracy; his sons-in-law, John Santimarino and Bob Lufft; and his siblings-in-law, Col. John Howard, Irene Prezelweski Comer and Jean McDonald Comer.
He is survived by: his children, Mary L. Comer Lufft (Binky), William B. Swanson, Kevin L. Witkowski, Robert A. Comer (Shannon Kelly), Tanna R. Comer Santimarino and Kathleen E. Comer Michelucci; and his sister Martha Howard. He is also survived by 22 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation was held on Sunday, January 12th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, Benwood-McMechen Chapel (214 Marshall St, McMechen, WV 26040). A memorial service was held on Sunday, January 12th 2025 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A Mass of Christian burial was held on Monday, January 13th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church (2111 Market St, Wheeling, WV 26003).
