He was predeceased by: his parents, James J. McGrail and Bernetta Beltz McGrail; his sisters, Eileen McGrail Ritter, Joan McGrail Nau, Sarah "Sally" McGrail Mull and Lenore McGrail Noll; and his grandsons, James McGrail IV and Jonathan McGrail.
He is survived by: his wife Eileen Rarey McGrail; and his children, James (Deborah), Mark (Jody), Scott, Todd (Susan), Kim Knapp, Kit Sloane (Edward), Kris Bowman (Thomas) and Kelly Cook (Scott). He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; 10 nephews and nieces.
