He is survived by: his wife Edith "Peachy" McKinney Bruffy; his children, Elizabeth Bruffy of Melissa, TX and Nelson Junior Bruffy (Rhonda); his sisters, Mary Helen Mazzo of Athol, TX, Alice Belle Brown, Janet Cochran, Naomi Clutter, Ellen Ann Givens (Danny), Charlotte Jeffry (Jerry), Karen Hall, Shelbyville, Verna Mae Nistendirk and Linda Saffle; and his sisters-in-law, Sharon Bruffey and Janet Bruffy. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
