He was predeceased by: his parents, William and Nellie; his former wife Mable Dean Wade; his wife Lynn Higginbottom Miller Wade; his son Johnny L. Wade Sr.; and his siblings, Annie G. Rucker, Betty J. Vernon and Galvester Wade.
He is survived by: his brother Dr. Howard P. Wade of Maybeury; his nephew Galvester W. "Bill" Sr. (Loretta M. Wade); and his grandsons, Johnny L. Wade Jr. of Columbus, Ohio and Jonathan Wade Sr. of Columbus, Ohio. He is also survived by great-grandchildren; a host of nephews, nieces and cousins; his many friends and neighbors.
