He was predeceased by: his parents, Jim Charles and Lula "Dunford" Charles. He is survived by: his siblings, Helen Charles, Shirl Blackner, William, Walter Charles and Gay "Steve" Boone; his wife Phyllis "Mitchell" Charles; and his children, Johnny Jr. "Juanita" Charles, Jamie "Tina" Charles, Mary Blizzard and Demeita Carpenter Joy "Kevin" Skipper. He is also survived by 11 Grandchildren and 11 Great-Grandchildren, and many Nieces and Nephews.
