He was predeceased by: his parents, George C. Bertha and Anna E. Kovalik Bertha; and his siblings, John, George E. Bertha and Geraldine Donofe.

He is survived by: his wife Frances Perazzoli Bertha; his children, Vickie Williamson (Randy), Joe Bertha of Weirton, Jeff Bertha (Laurie) of Weirton and Lori Bertha; his grandchildren, Joe Bertha, Natalie Bertha, Josh Kernen, Jerod Kernen, Kasey Nicholas (Ernie), Emily Staley (Derek) and Matthew Williamson; and his great grandchildren, Sophia Nicholas, Ella Nicholas, Eli Staley, Lyla Staley and Owen Staley. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
