He was predeceased by: his parents, George Emmett and Chesna Iris Powell Barnhart; and his wife Cecelia Viola Barnhart. He is survived by: his children, John E. Barnhart, Jr. (Eve Robertson) of Weirton, Joseph N. Barnhart of Charlotte, NC and Katherine David (Jeff) of Clinton, PA; his sister Sylvia Pflugh of Rayland, OH; and his grandchildren, Adam Robertson, Hanna Robertson, Madison Barnhart, Alyssa David and Gianna David.
