He was predeceased by: his parents, James Clayton and Ocie Blankenship Clayton; his former wife Andrea Clayton (Monohan); his son Jeffrey Clayton; and his siblings, Marvin Eugene Clayton and Shelva Jean Clayton.
He is survived by: his wife Beatrice Clayton (Osburn); his daughters, Sherry Hall (James), Donna Mullen (David) and Susan Shrader (Gary); his stepdaughter Lucinda Parks (Tom); and his siblings, Stanley Clayton (Caroline), Ronnie Clayton (Ruth), Tommy Clayton, Roger Clayton (Lou), Debbie Knight (Stanley), Mary Wilson (Gary) and Janet Wright (Dan).
