He was predeceased by: his parents, Stanton John and Kathleen Gaye Cogar Markle; and his brother Larry Joe Markle. He is survived by: his wife Joyce Gerwig Markle; his children, Danielle Brooks (Eric) of Bland, VA, Seth Markle (Sherry) of Morgantown and Gabriel Markle (Leslie) of Webster Springs; his grandchildren, Nathaniel Brooks, Parker Brooks, Liam Markle, Eliza Markle and Reid Markle; and his siblings, Debby Moore (Bryan), Shannon Markle (Jennifer) and John Markle (Tammy).
