He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Thayer and Ruth Thayer; and his siblings, Roy and Marion Thayer Yandow. He is survived by: his wife Ruth Gay Bias Thayer; his sister Susan Thayer Fellion; his children, Cynthia Lee Sharretts (Thayer) of Aberdeen, MD, Mark Wesley Thayer of Wayne, WV and Jeffrey Scott Thayer of Houston, TX.; his grandchildren, Amanda Sharretts Manna, Adam Sharretts, Jacob Thayer, Olivia Thayer, Robyn Thayer and Veronica Thayer Martinez; and his great grandchildren, Jaxon Manna, Adam Sharretts, Jr., Ava Mae Sharretts and Emma Jane Sharretts.
Visitation was held on Sunday, February 16th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Morris Funeral Home Chapel (79 Bridge St, Wayne, WV 25570). A funeral service was held on Sunday, February 16th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the same location.
