He was predeceased by: his parents, Brady Ward and Sadie Ward (Mullins); his son Joseph Andrew Ward II (Joey); and his siblings, Frances Lucas, Libby Hohman, James, Johnny, Edward, Herbert and Robert Ward.
He is survived by: his wife Dianna; his children, Chris Reese of McCleansville, N. C., Steve Reese of Minford, Talina Spurlock (Glen) of Ona and Katrina Dick of Kenova; his son-in-law Jerid; his grandchildren, Brittany Spurlock of Huntington, Becca Grace of McCleansville, Chloe Faith of McCleansville, Addilee Hope Reese of McCleansville and Jaxon Dick of Kenova; his great grandchild Eli Gillenwater of Huntington; his siblings, Donna Neff of Westmoreland, Cora Dixon of Ceredo, Dottie Williams of Ceredo and Brady Ward, Jr. of Jacksonville, Fla.; and his pets, Pearl and Blue Boy. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, church family, and loving friends.
He was a member of Bethesda Missionary Baptist Church where he regularly attended services until COVID and his illness prevented him from going.
