He was predeceased by: his father Henry; his wife Nannie Vaughan; his siblings, Robert Lee Vaughan, Jerry Ronald Vaughan and Sharon Vaughan; his grandson Holdin Smith; and his great grandchild Jace Ryan McGowan.
He is survived by: his children, Freddie Aliff (Anita), Connie Spence (Woody), Jakie Vaughan (Jeannie), Faye Mills (Mark), Robert Vaughan and Roger Vaughan (Cynthia); and his sister Carla Adkins (Charlie) of Louisville. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren.
