He was predeceased by: his parents, Melvin Thompson and Gladys Ross; and his siblings, Bruce, Ernestine, Melvin, Jr. and Paul.
He is survived by: his wife Phyllis Watts Thompson; his children, Terry Thompson (Pam), Travis Thompson (Sandy) and Tammy Vernick (Michael); his grandchildren, Rebecca Maynard (Brandon), Terry Thompson, Jr., Hannah Thompson, Erin Thompson, Rachel Thompson, Josie Vernick and Shannon Vernick; his siblings, LaDonna, Jewel, Joann and Lois; and also Sophia Maynard. He is also survived by his nieces, nephews, and friends of his children.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to either the American Cancer Society or the American Lung Association.
