He was predeceased by: his parents, Terrel Melott and Phyllis Jean Melott Blake (Gump); and his stepfather Vaughn Blake. He is survived by: his wife Brenda Melott (Jones); his children, Clarissa Bailey (Daniel) of Sardis, Heather Melott (David Rymer) of Salem, Tenisha Melott (John Maloney) of Clarksburg and James Melott (Delyse) of Clarksburg; his brother Steve Melott; his grandchildren, Charity Bailey, Hannah Rymer, Madison Rymer, Caydense Maloney, Chloe Maloney, Cameron Melott, Braden Murphy, David M. Rymer II and Emeric Melott; his stepmother Shirley Melott of Wileyville; his stepsisters, Vanessa Bard of Wileyville, Becky Greathouse, Sena Greathouse and Janie Davis of New Martinsville; and his nieces, Maggie May Melott and Tara Melott of Waldorf, MD..
