He was predeceased by: his parents, Jenning R Sapp and Ethel Summer Sapp; his wife Marjorie Long Sapp; his son Leo Martin Sapp Jr.; and his siblings, Charles "Bunk" Sapp, Ray Sapp, Elvie Garland, Irene Fletcher and Pauline Staggers.

He is survived by: his children, Gary Sapp (Donna) of Paden City, WV, Larry Sapp of Hilton Head, SC, Steven Sapp (Kim) of Parkersburg, WV and Cathy Metz (Roy) of Walker, WV; and his sister Doris Fletcher of Opekiska, WV. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren.
