He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy Lee and Patricia Anna Curry Ash; and his former wife Marsha Ash. He is survived by: his wife Brenda Ash; his stepsons, Nathan Crites (Catlyn Kennedy) of Weston and Branson Crites of Morgantown; his granddaughter Laikyn Crites; his siblings, Doug (Ellen Ash) of Fairmont, Tim Ash of Kentucky, Rusty (Bobbie Bates) of Buckhannon, Jason (Heather Ash) of Clarksburg, Patrick (Diane Ash) of Shinnston, Linda (Larry Hederick) of Huntington and Janet Blande of Clarksburg; and his uncle Gerald (Carolyn Ash) of Hagerstown, MD. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
