He was predeceased by: his parents, Mary Prunty (Moore) and Ross Prunty; his wife Martha; his siblings, Nelson Augenstein, Robert Prunty, Bill Prunty, Phyllis and Helen; his son-in-law Rector Wiggins; and his granddaughter Rebecca Wiggins.

He is survived by: his children, Robert Pruney (Ruth) of Vienna, WV, Jeffery Pruney of Parkersburg, WV and Debora Wiggins of Vienna, WV; his grandchildren, Briar Pruney, Mikalya Pruney and Timothy Wiggins; and his brother John Prunty.
