It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James E. Layman of Vienna, West Virginia, who passed away on January 28, 2022, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Brooks Crawford Layman, Sr. and Iris Wilma Schultz Layman; his daughter Tracy Neale Layman; his parents-in-law, Clifton and Irena Maxine Reed; and his sisters, Betty Memel, Genevieve Schell, Carolyn Holliday, Margaret Layman, Margie Layman, Joanne Layman and Dorothy Ellen Wells.

He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Irena Layman (Reed); his children, Stacy Desha Layman-Kennedy and Kyle Eugene Layman; and his siblings, Brooks Crawford Layman (Patricia) and Linda Kay Nedeff. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
