He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred L. Caplinger and Gladys L. Johnson Caplinger; his former wife Rosetta J Moore Caplinger; and his son David Mead Caplinger. He is survived by: his son Edward A. Caplinger of Largo, FL; and his sisters, Peggy J Hoover, Jackie Keiffer (David) of Craigsville and Sandy Lawrentz (Jeff) of Davisville. He is also survived by 2 great grandsons and 1 great granddaughter.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Red Cross in honor of Fred's memory.
