He was predeceased by: his parents, William G. Powell and Agatha Christine Morgan Honaker; and his brother Dale Powell. He is survived by: his wife Janet G. Pauley Powell; his children, Angela D. Coffman (Steve) of Wimauma, FL and Chad William Powell of Martinsburg; his sister Diane Wolfe; and his grandchildren, Cameron Powell, Madison Gibson, Mackenzie Gibson, Morgan Gibson, Logan Powell, Natalie Powell, Cameron Coffman and Braxton Coffman.
