He was predeceased by: his wife Carolyn JoAnne Lester; his parents, Albert Lester and Bonnie Lester; and his brothers, James "Pat" Lester and Paul Deskins.
He is survived by: his children, Kathy Wilson (Jody Trimmer), Vickey (Tony Bramble), Robert (Paula Lester) and Linda (Ernie Wiley); his grandchildren, Stephanie, Joshua Gomez-Wilson, Christopher Wilson, Tyler, Eva Bramble and Natalie Lester; his in-laws, Judy Riffe, Emogene Lester Brown, Larry Walters and Johnny Walters; and also Jane Nuckols Crist. He is also survived by 7 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made in his name to Lover's Leap Baptist Church.
