Julio Joseph "Del" DelCarmine Obituary
Julio Joseph "Del" DelCarmine, 79, a lifelong resident of Stamford passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, July 13, 2017 at Stamford Hospital. He was born in Stamford on June 17, 1938 to the late Joseph and Guiseppina Vitti DelCarmine. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife and high school sweetheart Deanna Panichella DelCarmine, and his brother Tony DelCarmine.
Julio was President and Owner of Fire Prevention Service, Inc. of Stamford for 52 years. He also was a charter member of the fire protection industry's national association and recently received the Knights of Columbus honorary award for his services to the council. He served in the Marine Corp from 1957-1962 and was an undefeated welterweight boxing champion.
Julio also played two years of semi-professional football. He also was a fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus Stamford CT council #41. Julio is survived by his son Andrew DelCarmine and his wife Sarina, his daughter Maribeth Scalzo and husband Joseph, three grandchildren Christina DelCarmine, Andrew DelCarmine and Deanna Scalzo as well as his brother Rocco DelCarmine, his wife Liliana, sister-in-law Kathy DelCarmine and many nieces and nephews.
He is also survived by his fiancé Maryanne Barber and her children. A funeral procession will be leaving the Nichols F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford at 9:40 a.m. on Tuesday, July 18, 2017 for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart RC Church, 37 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford.
Interment will follow at Fairfield Memorial Park, Oaklawn Avenue, Stamford. Family and friends may call the funeral home on Monday, July 17, 2017 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Julio's memory to St. Jude Research Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
