With heavy hearts, we announce the death of James Lawrence Merritt Sr. of Stonewood, West Virginia, who passed away on July 4, 2022 at the age of 82. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Pearl Cain Folstrom and Joe Isabella; his grandparents, Ida Cain, Andy and Stella Booth; his wife Barbara Ellen Carle; and his sister Edna Marie Cain.
He is survived by: his children, James "Jamie" Merritt, Jr. (Laura) of West Milford, WV and Julie Earl (Nathan) of Anmoore, WV.; his grandchildren, Timothy James, Justin Lawrence (Hope Knotts), Tanner Michael, Jamielynn Jolene and Santino James; his great grandchild Odin Lawrence; his sisters, Myrtle (Earl Reed) and Rose (Jack Thebo); his siblings-in-law, Dorothy Carpenter of Nutter Fort, WV, Patty Kalleel of Clayton, NC and Tom Modesitt of Walker, WV.; his niece Sharon Righman; his nephew Charles "Chuck" Reed; and his cousin Raymond Cain (Donna). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, step grandchildren, and many friends.
