He was predeceased by: his parents, Jake Dean and Louise Fox Dean; his siblings, Ronald Dean, Frances "Sissy" Gerrard and Linda Shackman; and his stepgrandson Jeremy Powell.
He is survived by: his wife Martha Lee Williams Dean; his sister Brenda Kline (David) of Martinsburg; his stepdaughter Deborah L. Powell of Stonewood; and his stepgranddaughters, Christina F. Powell and Samantha M. Lyman.
