He was predeceased by: his parents, Siegal J. Atkins and Doris Jean Baldwin Atkins; and his brother Jimmy Atkins. He is survived by: his wife Susan Atkins; his children, Steven Atkins (Mendy) and Stacy Jordan (Michael); his grandchildren, Megan Atkins, Emily Atkins (Cory Willard), Olivia Nida (Anthony), Alexys Spaulding, Cameron Spaulding, Amber Landers (Jameson) and Abbey Grimm (Luke); his great grandchildren, Dawson Ballard, Kaspen Ballard, Trenton Lacy, Thomas Lacy, Aria Nida, Lincoln Todd, Mayci Landers, Brecken Landers and Paisley Grimm; and his sister Shelia Shively.
